2008 ADDY Recap

dna.jpgThe 2008 ADDY Awards were a huge success thanks to the dynamic duo: co-chairs Emily Dorr and Lisa Gorham. With the help of an awesome committee, the ADDYs were a fun and entertaining night of creative achievements and social merriment.

The ADDY committee worked very hard and deserves to be congratulated any time you see them around town. Each year the members consistently raise the bar by entering top-notch pieces of excellent artwork, photography and copy. Congratulations to this year’s ADDY Award winners!! And special congratulations to the members who received the judge’s award: High Rock Studios, Aduro, Enforme Interactive, HBP Inc. and Octavo Designs! Best of Show was awarded to High Rock for their brilliant piece from Can Central.

A special thank you goes to Eddie Araya for designing the 2008 ADDY collateral and to the Comedy Pigs for their outstanding entertainment. How about another round of applause for the Comedy Pigs? Their performance was amazing and hilarious (and free thanks to their generous in-kind donation). If you’d like to see more of their witty talent, they provided a free ticket to their show in each goodie bag. If you didn’t notice, this year’s ADDYs were missing something…the display grids were almost gone. This year the committee decided to do away with most of the grids and place the pieces on tables. Another new idea was that each company had the opportunity to choose their own theme song that played when they received an award. Overall, this year’s ADDYs were awesome, fun and bursting with creative excitement. It gets two thumbs way up!!

The Step up to the Plate Auction was a huge success; we were able to raise $1190.00. Thank you to everyone who participated in the bidding. The proceeds from the auction go to the GFAF Scholarship fund. And, thank you to the members and companies who took the time to help create the wonderful pieces that were auctioned off. A little good goes a long way!

Expanding on the notion that a company can do good while doing well, Immersion Active placed $5 in each of the 270 gift bags at this year’s ADDY Awards. Attendees could spend the money as they pleased, but were presented with the opportunity to donate it back to Immersion’s newly established “Elder Hero Fund.” As a result, Immersion Active raised $700 for this Community Foundation fund, $450 of which was given back by ADDY attendees.
