AAF Conference – Louisville, Kentucky

AAF ConferenceLouisville, Kentucky is home to the fastest two minutes in sports — the Kentucky Derby, and most recently, the 2007 AAF Conference & National ADDY Awards. We had the incredible opportunity to attend and represent our group. It was an action packed event, sparked by workshops, presentations, roundtables, the National Student Competition, the ADDY Awards, networking with fellow members from around the country, and some of the great charm Louisville has to offer.

As a member of GFAF District 2, which is made up of: Ad Club of Metropolitan Washington D.C., Advertising Association of Baltimore, Advertising Club of New York, Advertising Federation of Central Pennsylvania, Advertising Women of New York (AWNY), African American in Advertising, Albany Ad Club, The Communicators Club of Buffalo-Brainstorm, Erie Advertising Club, Greater Frederick Advertising Federation, Lehigh Valley Advertising Club, Northeast Pennsylvania Advertising Club, Philadelphia Advertising Club, Pittsburgh Advertising Club, Rochester Advertising Federation, Syracuse Ad Club, you have the opportunity to attend these conferences. It’s a great chance to meet members, not only from our district, but others from around the country. Get energized with new ideas and get recharged to accomplish those ideas that haven’t yet come to fruition. Attend information-rich workshops and participate in roundtable discussions. Hear from key speakers, such as Andy Jung, Senior Director of Advertising & Media Services for Kellogg; David Verklin, CEO of Carat Americas and author; and Frank Cooper, VP of Marketing for Pepsi-Cola. Attend the conference and you’ll not only represent GFAF, but you’ll take home an experience you will not soon forget.

We returned to Frederick with four days worth of fresh ideas and goals for GFAF and are working with the Board of Directors to implement them. One goal that remains in the forefront is our need to attract and retain quality members by reaching out and getting them involved. This is done by keeping our programming and events useful and interesting. All GFAF members can help with this goal by being involved and staying involved. Since the conference, we have been pursuing partnerships with several other clubs in our District to bring speakers to our region and to plan joint activities. Through these networks, GFAF will continue to have a positive impact on the Greater Frederick region and beyond.

For those who are interested, the 2008 AAF Conference & National ADDY Awards will be held in Atlanta, Georgia. Keep checking both the GFAF and AAF Web sites for details, including speakers, schedules, special events, hotel, and conference fees
