Another Side in Review
The fourth annual “Another Side” silent auction was held on Friday, May 2, 2008 at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center. This awesome fundraising event is held every year with the proceeds benefiting the Greater Frederick Advertising Federation Scholarship Fund.
The auction, led by co-chairs Kris Fair and Chris Renshaw, included pieces submitted from GFAF members and local artists, such as paintings, photography, ceramics, jewelry, and even stuffed animals. Ed Ramsburg’s painting generated the most money with $410. Amy Guestboard’s stuffed animal, “Milton,” had the most bids with the highest bid at $65. Overall, the auction was a success.

I very much enjoyed the new venue. Much more convenient and accessible. It’s a good fit with the Delaplaine.
I was disappointed by the low turnout. For this event to really be a success it must reach a wider audience outside of the GFAF. As I looked around the gallery I noticed that attendees were either the artists, GFAF members, or friends/family of the artist.
Many people I spoke to about AS didn’t even know it was happening. I personally recieved the DM literally the week of the event.
I also, missed the live music aspect of this event.
The food was great, as always, but we may want to rethink the Poppy Seed Shrimp. It’s a little embarassing when people keep telling you that you have a seed stuck in your teeth. LOL
