Member company FiND iT FREDERiCK (formerly Garbo Design House) is pleased to announce that new graphic designer and GFAF member Kim Dow (Kalico Design) has already won kudos for her work on the magazine. The Fall 09 editorial layout for “Tea, Sympathy and Natural Healing” was selected by Crescent Hill Books for their upcoming book, “The New Big Book of Layouts,” available in stores May 2010.

  Kalico Design was recently granted Green America’s “Business Seal of Approval,” which designates businesses that are socially and environmentally responsible in the way they source, manufacture, market and run their businesses and their offices.

CROWLEY CO. OPENS NEW FACILITY

Cheri Baker announces that The Crowley Company will be opening a second digital and analog imaging bureau in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Coming on the heels of a multi-year contract for imaging services from NA Publishing, Inc., this branch triples the company’s conversion facility space, doubles the service bureau staff and increases imaging output by approximately 15M images per year.

KAINEG AND ‘FLUX’ FEATURED IN “THE NEXT 24 HOURS”

Kristin Kaineg, assistant professor of art at Shepherd University, shared top billing with AIGA’s ‘FLUX’ student design competition in a full-page Frederick News Post story. With over 1,000 entries - including international - it was the program’s largest year to date. GFAF members Adam Leviton and Chris Chilcoat were also prominent in the article.
